Sprays
Don't missPlay and Find Out About the Human Bodyfor this experiment and others.

Purpose
To demonstrate how germs can be spread.

    Materials
  • facial tissue
Procedure
1. Hold two ends of facial tissue.
2. Hold the tissue against the end of your nose
so that the tissue covers your nose and
mouth.
3. Cough and observe the movement of the tissue.

So Now We Know
You catch a cold from germs that are so small that can float in the air. When a person with a cold coughs or sneezes, moist air containing cold germs is sprayed into the air. The tissue blew outward when you coughed into it. If the tissue had not been there, the moist air would have sprayed several yards (meters) away from your body.
