Ruslan helps raise money for African children's schooling by washing cars and doing other jobs. He also makes his own videos and films. He'd like to be a Christian missionary someday. Ruslan says, "I want to help people around the world. I was an orphan for many years, and some missionaries helped me. I would like to do the same."
Project Graphic
Ruslan visited the doctor with his father, who has type I diabetes. The doctor ran a glucometer test with a result of 130, while just a few minutes earlier Ruslan's father's home test had read 160. The doctor said that home-use glucometers are not as accurate as the more expensive kind used by physicians. Rusland wanted to confirm this.

Ruslan bought two each of five different brands of home-use glucometers. He tested each human subject three times over 48 hours, with store-bought and doctor's office glucometers. Seventy-nine of the 120 home-kit tests he ran were at least 20 units off the results from the high-quality doctor's machine. Ruslan advises those with diabetes to have their home-use glucometer checked regularly against the better-calibrated doctor's machine.
