Banner Graphic
Joshua plays basketball and soccer. He hopes to eventually put his interest in electronics to use as an electrical engineer.
Project Graphic
Joshua was interested in power generation and wanted to investigate the use of pulsed motor technology to drive a generator apparatus as efficiently as possible. He hypothesized that his goal to achieve "unity" or "over-unity" energy conversion would be impossible given the losses of friction, gravity, and heat.

Joshua built a two-coil impulse motor based on a design he found during his research. He added a third coil to recapture some of the kinetic energy of the rotor and feed it back into a battery. He ran tests under different conditions, capturing the data on his laptop so that he could maximize the output and efficiency of the unit. He was able to attain only 22 percent efficiency, but discovered a resonant frequency hum during a stopped rotor situation that increased output with little change in input. He hopes to explore this further in his next project.
