Today we went to the NIH, again. It was awesome. First, we did chemistry. It was
fun. We mixed and measured chemicals and made colors. Our story, "my" story was
about a forbidden love.
Next, we did the whelmer challenge, in which we presented our"whelmers." We all
did very well and got to touch elephant snot and fly on a broom.
We also did a mold expirement at thr NIH. In this expirment we collected and
analyzed mold samples while wearing EXTREMELY uncomfortable suits and using
amazing equipment.
After that, we did a virtual colonoscopy (no comment) and we studied bloodless
zebra fish. :P
OH SNAP!
THIS IS ANTHONY (& Nolan)FOR SOMETHING NEW AND UNPRESIDENTED!!
DEUX BLOG POSTS IN A DAY!
TA-DA TA-DA TA-DA
Oh Snap, we just finished the Cosmeo workshop at DCI. Soon we'll start
rehearsing for the dinner and presenting our posters. I think that we all have
excellent chances for winning the team work award and three of us for the
scholarships. I can't wait to find out.
Aight. This is Nolan speaking now. We're all more or less excited about
tonight, but are kind of disappointed that the week is ending already. As much
as we detested those 5:00 wake-up calls, the challenges were really addictive.
I guess it's sort of a bittersweet trip. Luckily, we met some really cool kids.
Later.
Sorry-
Didn't do an update last night because we only had around 15 min. back at the
hotel before the Odssey Dinner Cruise(I don't care about spelling right now, my hashbrowns are waiting). That was fun and we got to see alot of stuff on the river. Their was a dance floor and Amy made the most of it. However, for guys
like Phillip(Blue T.), Jason(Green T.) and myself it wasn't our kind of music at
all. We are strong in ballroom dancing instead. So about the challenges. 1st we
had the Lab Tech Relay. We didn't do as well as we did last time but still we
got(if you add it all up) around 7 1/2 done. Not bad. We did all get sorta angry
at each other. Amy appeared stressed and irritated too. Too many things not
enough time. Then we had a 3 hour lunch break. We hanged with(INSERT LOW MOVIE
ANNOUNCER VOICE)THE WIZARD, JAKE
We did a dime in a balloon and tried to reach it's harmonic frequency to make it pop and did a few funny
tricks that anyone could play on their superiors. We did something in the air
next. That was quite fun. Nolan and Amy did the Epidemiologist and Mayor roles.
Shillipi and Nick were the doctors diagnosing the patient, joe Plastic and I was
the viralogist and I got to wear a suit that portected me from the H5N1 virus.
We did a press confrenece in the end. We did the mold one next and that was fun
too. The Avian Flu one was my favorite though.
We just came back from the awards ceremony. There were some really exciting awards such as a trip to Mexico, a team prize to Alcatraz, and trips to various camps.
The last prizes announced were the big ones... third, second, and first. Jake came up to announce those, and he would say the finalist's school and then their name.
For second place, Jake announced the finalist was from Robert Frost Middle School. That narrowed it down to two - me and Scott. Then, Jake said that he went by a nickname: pi.
I'll let first and third reveal their own identities through blogging, but I won second place. I was interviewed by WTOP and another with WUSA (DC's CBS) will be next week.
It was a very fun week getting to know everyone, and everyone is a winner for getting this far. I hope everyone enjoyed their time in DC!!!

The real win? The experience and knowledge that we can take away from this. I can't put into words how much fun this has been, and that I will miss all the Luigi's and late night dances. So for all the finalists reading this entry, I hope to hear from y'all soon.
