I can't log in to use the QuizCenter.
The first question is, do you have a Custom Classroom account? If not, register for one right now. The next question is, are you entering everything correctly? Your user ID and password must be entered exactly as we gave it to you, including case. If you changed your password, make sure you remember exactly what it was.
If you don't remember, e-mail us or
submit the Feedback/Questions Form.
I got the message, "Unable to connect to database at this time."
This may happen if two users are logging in at the same time, or if the database is being updated while you're trying to log in. If you see this, simply press the back button and resubmit your login information. If you are unable to connect for several hours, file a bug report.
I get a WARNING sign.
This is nothing to be alarmed about. Quiz Maker is just letting you know that you already have a quiz with the same filename in your account. If you click on the "Create a Quiz" button, this quiz will overwrite the previous one. If you don't want to destroy the old file, change the new quiz's filename.
I made my quiz, but now I can't find it.
If you're getting a bunch of "Error 404" or "Error 403" messages, you're probably entering the wrong URL for the quiz. On this server, quizzes are stored according to the
URL:
http://school-dev.itg.discovery.com:5447/~quizuser/quizzes /username/quizfilename.html
Note that URLs are case-sensitive, so if you have capital letters in your username or quiz file name, you must access the quiz with those exact same capitals. If you forgot what the quiz filename was, you can look at the contents of your directory by logging in to the Quiz Center and selecting "View or Delete a Quiz in your account" from the main menu. You will then be presented with a list of all your quizzes and their associated locations. Write down or bookmark the location of the quiz so that you can easily access it later on. For security reasons, you are not permitted to view the directory index (otherwise students could view the quizzes before they're supposed to).
I edited my quiz, but my changes didn't take effect.
The most likely reason is that your browser is still looking at the old version of the document. In order to speed up page loading, browsers will often keep a copy of a previously visited Web page in memory. This is called caching. You may have to force the browser to bypass the cache and go straight to the server to bring up the modified quiz.
In Netscape, this is accomplished by pressing the Shift key while clicking "Reload" upon viewing the quiz. You can also go into "Network preferences" (in 3.0x) or "Advanced Preferences" (in 4.0x) to clear the cache, disable it, or configure it (consult your Netscape documentation). In Internet Explorer, select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu and click on the "General" tab. Find the option for Temporary Internet files and click on "Delete files," then click "OK."
