One of the most useful tools available to meet that end is the QuizCenter. The QuizCenter accompanies distance education by providing a means to create and correct on-line quizzes easily and quickly. Without any knowledge of HTML, the QuizCenter enables teachers to make web pages with quizzes that provide instant feedback to students, and/or package answers in an email that is sent back to the instructor.
The Discovery School is offering use of the QuizCenter as a FREE service for
educators at all levels. No downloading or installation is required. If
you are associated with a valid educational institution, you may sign up
for this service and utilize it freely on our server.
Unlike other quiz generation programs, you don't have to learn a special
"Quiz Markup Language". The QuizMaker will automatically create your quiz
pages using standard HTML that can be read by most major web browsers.
All you need to do is enter the actual quiz information in an easy
form-based interface. It contains no Java or JavaScript, and image
loading is minimal which makes it far less frustrating for educators with
older browsers and slower Internet connections.
Accounts held by educators remain active as long as the Discovery School
does not learn of improper use.
QuizCenter Features
The QuizCenter is a collection of separate quiz tools. Here are some of
things available through the QuizCenter:
Why is this site better?
What advantage does this service have over others? For one, it's free to
educators. Also, there is
no hassle with installation procedures since we set up the account for
you. We store all the HTML files, and the answer keys are safely tucked
away beyond the reach of the students. QuizCenter gives you the ability
to use the World Wide Web in your classes even if your school doesn't have
its own web server. Your only requirement is an email address.
Who may apply?
This service was developed for the use of educational institutions
involved in distance learning activities, research, assessments and
information dissemination. Others may apply if they intend to use this
service for educational purposes. All account activity will be monitored to
determine if there is an inappropriate application.
Can I obtain a copy of the server software?
QuizServer, the licensed version of the QuizCenter software, is now
available for purchase by users who wish to install the software on their
own institutional web server for internal use. It is designed for
Microsoft Windows and UNIX web servers only. Price is US$250 for an educational license.QuizServer Demonstration
