image Product Overview
Based on the real-life Legoland Family Parks, this simulation allows young Lego fans the opportunity to build and manage their own amusement park! Kids' goal as manager is to build a nice-looking, well-organized park, keep their visitors happy, and maintain and improve their park.

The story is as follows: Professor Voltage's latest invention -- a Time Machine -- has managed to destroy the amusement park! It is the player's job to rebuild the park while the Professor is travelling through time, collecting special items for his newest rides.

Kids can jump right in and start building without pressure or consequences in Free Play Mode, or choose the more structured, goal-based Game Mode. Stretched over 10 levels, Game Mode requires a child to meet a certain goal before moving on to the next level. Players start with a 5-level tutorial that introduce the different elements of the game step-by-step (example, how to build rides, lay down paths, use the erase button, keep power levels stable, etc.).

The toolbar is always available. Players click on the Map button to get an overview of their park layout or to jump quickly from one part of the park to another. The Notepad is always handy for repeating a "briefing" and for getting tips. Kids will also need to refer to the Coin Bar for a numerical and visual representation of their funds, as well as the Power Bar.

Free Play mode is just right for younger kids in the suggested age group, as they need not be concerned about keeping their visitors happy. Kids choose rides from 4 different themes -- Legoland, Wild West, Castle, and Adventurers.

Simulations are unquestionably popular with children, and this title admirably allows younger kids the opportunity to play with ease. It is less challenging than other simulation software on the market, and the Lego theme is of course popular with kids ages 6-9. It is ideal for children a bit too young for more sophisticated simulation games, but old enough to work with and benefit from the problem solving and planning required to enjoy a simulations game. Lego fans in particular will appreciate working with familiar Lego themes based on some of the real-world Lego toys.

Technically Speaking
Minimum requirements are Windows 95/98, a Pentium II 233, 32 Mb RAM, and 4X CD ROM.

Skills Covered
strategy, resource management, thinking skills, creative play.

Educational Value
This title contains all the educational value of a simulation game -- strategy, keeping a balance, weighing different factors, etc. -- only on a level appropriate for kids aged 6-9.

Entertainment Value
Kid testers ages 6 and 9 were totally engrossed in the game. The theme is perfectly suited for kids of this age.

Design
The program is easy to navigate and the interface is quite easy to understand. Scrolling is a little slow, but kids can easily click on the Map button to get from one part of their park to another. Five levels of tutorial as well as excellent help features make the program very understandable for the targeted age group.

Replayability
With two modes of fun game play (free play and goal-based), we expect above-average replay value.

Dollar Value
Suggested retail price is $25 US. This title is unique in that it is a full simulation game for a younger crowd.
