Jump Jump Jazzy — Video Review
Rating: four and a half stars
The Bottom Line
Young children will be fascinated with the moving toys, live-action animals, and stimulating objects enlivening the screen. The jazzy soundtrack to this video is a wonderful change that helps make this video shine. Jump Jump Jazzy is fun, whimsical, and manages to add some useful educational benefits with its introduction to six musical instruments, classical art, and some basic academic concepts.

Jump Jump Jazzy Product Overview
For those parents looking for something a little different to enjoy with their little ones, Jump Jump Jazzy delivers a variation on typical video fare for babies and toddlers. Most notable is its soundtrack. Smooth and soothing sounds as well as fun jazzy rhythms will be easy on the ears for both parents and kids.

Though this video features a less-than-original parade of moving toys and visually appealing objects, it does throw in some live-action animal clips, famous paintings, as well as individual instrument showcases. In this fast-growing genre of baby videos, each new offering seems to resemble the last. However, there are just enough tweaks in addition to a refreshing soundtrack to make this video stand out.

Animals hold universal appeal for young children, and the addition of live-action clips of ducks, deer, and more helps to keep children's interest. Production quality is not outstanding, but suffices — kids won't notice! We love the introduction to musical instruments and the occasional classical art piece by such artists as Van Gogh and Picasso thrown in. Numbers, letters, colors, and shapes help add to the educational value of the video. Kids watch, for example, colorful letters of the word "trumpet" pop up one-by-one under a still of a real trumpet.

Some may question whether videos designed for babies and toddlers are in fact encouraging kids to be glued to the television at an early stage. However, if treated properly, a scripted cast of audios and visuals can be enjoyable for parents to use with their young children. Parents can make the experience an interactive one by talking about what they see on the screen with their kids.
