With the use of rhythm sticks (or simply clapping), children can open up their hearts to the rhythms and cultures of different lands with this inspiring CD. Georgiana Stewart has authored a wonderful collection of easy to follow rhythm stick activities for the very young.
Rhythm sticks help develop coordination and increase motor skills. Though this CD is designed to be used with these special sticks, little hands can be used almost as effectively let children clap along to the rhythm!
There are a total of 23 tracks, each approximately 1-2 minutes long. The third track entitled "Piper Piper" features Ireland and activities include tip-toeing, tapping sticks, turning around, and jumping front/back. In the "Children's Song" from Greece, kids pretend their sticks are ships sailing in the sea. Kids do a German-inspired polka, stamp their feet and tap their rhythm sticks to a flamenco beat, pretend their sticks are magic wands in India's "Daysie", and more.
There are a total of 18 tracks with lyrics and suggested activities for imaginative play, stick-tapping, and creative movement. The remaining songs are instrumentals. Printed activities and lyrics are included.
