Assembling and playing with paper dolls is hardly a new pastime, but this exciting book presents a new, fuss-free way to enjoy this well-loved activity. The six reversible dolls included in the book are not cut-out, they're pop-out! Perforations help make the activity manageable for even the youngest of doll lovers. And, instead of using paper tabs to dress up and accessorize the dolls, the book offers a new system of sticky shapes.

The large, sturdy spiral bound book offers instructions and ideas with full-color illustrations, pages of dolls and accessories, a sheet of sticky shapes for easy assembly, six playboard scenes, and a gorgeous wardrobe for storing the paper pop-outs. This latter feature is especially novel--the back of the book features an adorable dresser with pockets for holding the dolls and accessories. This is more than just built-in storage--the numerous pockets give kids the opportunity to organize and sort the various hair, clothing, and accessory items.

There are 6 full-size dolls, 3 babies, and a dog and cat included. Each of these (excluding the pets) is reversible and available in various skin tones. On one side, the faces are pre-drawn, while the other sides are blanks. Kids can draw faces on the blank dolls, and ideas to copy are featured in the book. Though there are more than enough clothes and accessories included, kids can get creative by using some of these to trace, cut out, and decorate their own "blanks". Adding glitter, tissue paper, and other decorations to the blanks adds a creative spin to the activity.

The quantity and variety of mix-and-match hairstyles, doo-dads, clothes, and accessories included in the set is impressive. Kids can turn their dolls into witches and brides, or experiment with accessories in endless ways. They can turn the book's pages to any of the six play scenes, stand the book up, and use the fantasy backdrops for imaginative play. Paper doll purists may feel that taking away the need for scissors and paper tabs subtracts from the fun, but little testers were thrilled they could easily manage the activity! The book is ideal for young kids not yet adept with scissors and "klutzes" alike.
