Title: CAN I GET IN TROUBLE USING A COMPUTER?

Grade: 10th   Subject: Business   Class: Computer Technology

Purpose
True computer literacy is not just knowing how to make use of computers and computational ideas. It is knowing when it is appropriate to do so. (Seymour Papert, in Mindstorms)

This unit will be done after we have had units on word processing, Internet and PowerPoint. The students will work in cooperative learning teams (3 to 4 students) to research one of the topics within the objectives. They will then prepare a written report using correct format and a PowerPoint presentation correctly citing sources. This unit will help them apply the computer skills they have used in previous units as well as learn about the importance of ethics with regards to computer technology. This unit will be a way for students to present skills for standards 03, 05, 06, and 08. A sample presentation and a rubric will be given so students will know the requirements. Students will present their information to the class and prepare test questions from their presentations. Students will be tested on the questions prepared by the students as well as additional questions prepared by the instructor.
