Key words:
canon- a musical composition in two or more voice parts in which the melody is imitated exactly and completely by the successive voices though not always at the same pitch.
descant- a superimposed counterpoint to a simple melody.
Dorian- A medieval mode whose scale pattern is like that of playing D to D on the white keys of a piano.
MIDI- Musical Instrument Digital Interface; a standard interface for the creation and playback of electronic music.
modal- A scale pattern consisting of set intervals of whole and half steps. The primary modes are Aeolian, Dorian,

tone- a sound of definite pitch and vibration.
rhythm- the aspect of music comprising all the elements (as accent, meter, and tempo) that relate to forward movement.
