Plant Ecologist and Communications Officer
Dr. Dinesh Bhuju is an ecologist at the Royal Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (RONAST.) in Lalitpur, Nepal (near Kathmandu.) As the Division Chief of the Promotion Division, Dinesh plans and supervises activities related to the academy’s science communication campaign, the library, and award and research grants. Dinesh is also an expert on plant species colonization and species richness in areas with varying levels of disturbance. He has conducted research in Japan and Nepal.
Career Path: Dinesh earned his master’s degree in botany from Tribhuvan University in Nepal and his doctorate in ecology from Chiba University in Japan. An excellent communicator, Dinesh soon found himself climbing the administrative ranks at RONAST. Even so, he returns to the field to do research whenever he can. The ground orchids are among his favorite plants. Dinesh likes to point out that even plants with delicate flowers can survive the extreme conditions of the Himalaya Mountains.
